Water Meters

Multi-jet Meters

For cold, hot, high pressure and hostile industrial service measurement.

The meter of choice for utilities, submetered properties and industries demanding maximum and sustained measurement accuracy. The meter is recognized for long service life and relatively maintenance-free operation, even under adverse conditions.

Master Meter, Inc. 5/8" to 1" Cold Water Multi-jet Meters

AWWA Standard
Meets or exceeds all sections of AWWA Standard C-708, most recent revision.

Design/Operation
Velocity-type meter. Water, evenly distributed by multiple precision-machined jet nozzles, flows past an impeller in the measuring chamber, creating an impeller velocity directly proportional to water flow rate. The meter's register integrates velocity into totalized flow.

Main Case
Waterworks bronze case of 81% copper composition with externally threaded ends. Bronze register retaining rings are standard. Main case design incorporates wrench pads to aid installation.

Measuring Chamber
The measuring chamber housing and measurement element are constructed of a durable synthetic polymer and can easily be removed from the main case without removal of the meter from the line. The chamber housing is constructed in two parts to allow access to the impeller.

Measurement surfaces are not wear surfaces, providing sustained accuracy despite the presence of entrained solids in the water. A long-life, sapphire bearing serves as a wear surface, with balanced water flows minimizing bearing wear.

Magnetic Drive
A reliable, direct magnetic drive provides linkage between measurement element and register. No intermediate gearing is required; no gearing is exposed to water.

Register
Standard direct read, DIALOG® Meter Reading System and Electrical Output Registers are available. A six wheel odometers is standard.

Register Sealing
All registers are permanently sealed, with a stainless steel base and wrap-around gasket to prevent intrusion of dirt or moisture. Direct read and DIALOG® System registers also incorporate a tempered glass lens.

Registration Units
Registration available in U.S. gallons, cubic feet, or cubic meters.

Test Circle
Large center sweep hand with ten clearly indicated graduations per minimum registration unit.

Low Flow Indicator
Center mounted indicator with high sensitivity resulting from direct one to one linkage to the measuring element.

Strainer
A rugged, 360-degree polymer strainer protects the critical measuring element from damage.

Frost Protection
Patented, pressure-activated plug is expelled from the meter by expansion of freezing water. The frost plug can be replaced without meter removal or disassembly.

Adjusting Port/Tamper Detection
Sealed after factory calibration. Port is accessible for utility recalibration, to Tamper Detection compensate for inaccuracy in older meters without parts replacement. The Master Meter Multi-jet adjusting port is sealed to prevent tampering and provides a visual indication of tampering attempts.

Master Meter, Inc. 1/2" to 2" Hostile Service Multi-Jet Meters

A rugged, high copper composition alloy main case houses a polypropylene measuring chamber with a velocity-type measuring element. For measurement of liquids that would attack the standard bronze main case, the case is subjected to pre-treatments, plated with electroless nickel and finished with a sealer to minimize corrosive attack.
The meter design allows easy removal of the chamber from the main case without pulling the meter from the line. The chamber housing is constructed in two parts, for maintenance access to the impeller.

Rugged construction and generous operating clearances provide high accuracy despite small-sized debris in the liquid. A sturdy inlet strainer protects the measuring element from larger entrained debris.

A reliable magnetic drive provides linkage between measurement element and sealed register. Only one moving part is exposed to the metered liquid.

Applications
• Moderately aggressive, water-like, low viscosity liquids.
• Weak or organic acids
• Weak bases
• Most non-aromatic hydrocarbons
• Contaminated water typical of environmental remediation projects.

Register Options:

Standard: meter-mounted register with mechanical odometer.

DIALOG® System: for automatic electronic reading.

Electrical Output: for remote totalization

Rate of Flow: for remote flow rate data or input to 4-20 mA output unit.
